Preserving the tried and tested - from materials that live!
Seminar in German
"We build with local materials, with local craftsmen and the characters of the people who live here. It is not an intellectual but an emotional matter: we want to give our projects the opportunity to age with dignity. We are concerned with the cycles of the materials used, their durability and longevity, but also with traditional craftsmanship methods that have been handed down, with knowledge that was thought to be lost, but above all with the fact that materials live".
Armin and Alexander Pedevilla studied architecture at the Technical University in Graz. Both founded their own office independently of each other after their studies. Armin Pedevilla worked from 2001 to 2003 in a joint venture with Dreiplus in Graz. In 2005, the brothers returned to South Tyrol from their desire for alpine building and founded the office pedevilla architekten. Since then, pedevilla architekten has made a name for itself in the international architecture scene. Their work has received numerous awards and been shown in various exhibitions. This was followed by lectures at universities and institutions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and by working as jurors at architectural competitions.
For Pedevilla Architekten, building means consciously dealing with social, cultural, economic and ecological components of everyday life. The integration of a building into existing local structures plays just as important a role as the consideration of the respective temperature and climate influences. In this context, the issue of consistency becomes an important factor in planning decisions.
